The history of the Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church can be tracked down to a rented shop that was located at the Boon Tat street where it was primarily founded in the year 1889. Ever since its commencement, Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church had played a prominent role Methodism birth in Singapore by means of American and British missionaries who came to preach in China town. The structure which has he present day church was constructed from 1924 to 1925. In the year 1989, the church was declared as a national memorial.
