The istana called as “Palace” in Malay language is constructed on an nutmeg plantation. Previously the istana was the official home for the envoy of the British crown. At present it is Singapore president’s official residence. It is opened to public for times in a year.
It ranges in classical style from the metaphorical Victorian Renaissance to the simpler Roman classical with strokes of Chinese, Malay, Gothic and other influence. Indeed, the Istana is a magnificent structure.
