The St.Andrews Cathedral is the second building constructed in the present location. The original building was constructed by G.D.Coleman and sanctified in the year 1838. Nevertheless subsequent to two lightening strikes, the building was destroyed in the year 1852.

The present day cathedral was planned by Colonel Ronald Macpherson in the year 1856. The south Transept guests centre displays pictures, artifacts and cathedral history videos. Also available are guided tours around the building.
